Taggart farewells the financial advisory game

PROMINENT Hills businessman, Dr Jim Taggart OAM has announced he is retiring from the financial advisory business from August 16.

Jim and Carol Taggart sold their insurance and financial planning advisory businesses to Austbrokers in July 2012.

Jim remained with the businesses after the sale but has now decided that it is time to move to the next phase of his life. Jim and Carol started their life insurance business as a home based business in Kellyville in 1987.

Since then the business has grown to include a general insurance brokerage and when the businesses were sold to the Austbrokers entities in July 2012, there were over 6,000 clients in the two businesses, and around 12 staff working from their office at Norwest Business Park.

Jim and Carol have three grandchildren with a new grandson due to be born early September 2013.

Jim has held positions with the Association of Financial Advisers, Australia, as a State Director and National President, and the Asia Pacific Financial Services Association as the Australian representative.

He has attained a Doctorate and an Adjunct Professorship and has spoken as a mentor and adviser at professional conferences both in Australia and overseas.

Carol retired from the businesses after the sale in 2012.
