Of these, 3,771 people - or just 3.8 per cent - are currently looking for work. The figures are lower than both the national and state averages, with Sydney’s unemployment rate at 4.9 per cent, and Australia’s average coming in a 5.1 per cent, says Mayor of The Hills Shire, Councillor Greg Burnett.
“One of the measures of quality of life for a region is the ability to find employment,” Mayor Burnett said. “These results clearly indicate that, and we are delighted with the report’s findings.
“I encourage business owners to stop and think about the future. Are your employees averaging more than two hours per day commuting? Would you like to retain your best workers by giving them back hours of their lives each day? Could you locate or expand your business close to where your workers live, locking in their loyalty?” he said.
The report shows that the unemployment rate in The Sydney Hills has fallen by almost 1,000 in the last 12 months.
