Turnbull launches Broadband survey at Hills

FOLLOWING the Sydney Hills Business Chamber’s ongoing quest to have the Government’s National Broadband Network rollout include the Norwest Business Park and growing Hills region, Malcolm Turnbull met with the Chamber and local businesses recently to launch the Coalition Nationwide Broadband Survey.

The online survey is available at www.fasterbroadband.com.au and will provide the Coalition with important information about the speed of existing broadband in Australian cities, suburbs, towns and regions.

Sydney Hills Business Chamber Chairman, Tony Eades said: “So many of our members struggle with slow or inconsistent internet speeds which impacts on business and is not a desirable platform for one of Australia’s largest and fasted growing business parks”.

The current NBN rollout which has so far reached just 54,000 of the expected 511,000 households promised by next June is not expected to reach the Norwest Business Park until 2020. The Coalition’s commitment is to fast-track upgrades in areas where broadband is poorest.

Sydney Hills Business Chamber member and support partner, Wayne Lazarides from Inkredible Rebranding says due to the lack of broadband services, that he had little alternative but to pay for a business grade connection for of his graphic design business.

“The was no viable internet broadband service, so we had to seek a third party wireless service at a cost of around ten thousand a year to achieve a balanced10Mbs upload/download speed," Wayne said.

The Sydney Hills Business Chamber runs regular business events and last month hosted the Hills Business Summit which addressed the ongoing challenges local businesses experience with an internet platform that doesn’t meet the needs of today.
