Get ready for the digital switch over

ANALOGUE TV turns off in Sydney on December 3.

This means that anyone who has not already switched over (people who only receive the five analogue channels) won’t get TV reception.

For information about getting ready for the digital switchover, call 1800 201 013. The government has established a website and call centre to assist people making the switch. The website is http://www.digitalready.gov.au/

Anyone receiving the full rate of Age or Disability Pension, Carer payment, DVA Service Pension or DVA Income Support Supplement who needs help switching to Digital TV should call Centrelink on 1800 556 443.

“If you’re a pensioner, carer or veteran and you need help with switching to digital TV, my staff are here for you. Call my office on 9689 1455”, Parramatta MP, Julie Owens said. Here are a few reasons why we're making the switch.

There are a number of ways in which digital TV will improve your viewing, including:

• More free-to-air channels, plus the current ones.

• Access to an electronic program guide, so you can see program schedules on your TV.

• The ability to watch TV in high definition quality.

Overseas programs are increasingly being made in digital format only. Digital TV means you’ll still be able to watch these shows.

Turning off the analog signals will free up space that can be used for other services.
