A Night With The Stars raises $40,000 for sport

MORE than 300 people packed the Lyceum at Castle Hill RSL on February 24, for western Sydney’s premier celebrity sports dinner “A Night With The Stars” in support of the Western Sydney Academy of Sport.

With the help of business the event raised almost $40,000 for the Academy and will assist in providing more valuable opportunities for the next generation of sports stars.

The event was hosted by Fox Sports Commentator Matt Russell and featured an opening performance by X Factor winner Samantha Jade courtesy of Sony Music.

Guest speakers on the night included Liz Ellis, Ricky Stuart, Phil Gould and Michael Vella who entertained the crowd with their bar stool banter on all things sport.

The event was also highlighted by some amazing fundraising activities including a main auction that featured two Gold Class Experiences for 46 people courtesy of Event Cinemas and a unique Rugby League and concert experience.

There was a large array of silent auction items and raffle prizes generously donated by many businesses from across western Sydney and in particular the Hills District.

A Night With The Stars has become western Sydney’s celebrity sports dinner and is only made possible with the support of many of the region’s most significant corporate entities, this year under the leadership of John Glover, CEO of Pendragon.

“As Chair of this great event this year it was a pleasure to be able to work with my professional business colleagues to assist the young athletes to help create and fulfil their dreams both for themselves and the community which we live in,” John said.

“Over the past three years this event has now raised over $130,000 and assisted the Academy in raising its corporate and community profile in the Hills and Greater Western Sydney.”

Academy CEO Martin Bullock said: “The wonderful support that the Academy receives from such a committed, enthusiastic and supportive event organising committee is invaluable and we than them for their time, energy and assistance in making the event such a great success.”
