Logistic sector drives growth

GROWTH in the logistics sector is underpinning a recovery in the Sydney industrial market according to a new market review from CB Richard Ellis

A range of third-party logistics providers were actively seeking space in Western Sydney as were a number of larger corporates seeking to streamline their logistics operations.

In one of the most recent deals NYK Logistics has sub-leased 5370 square metres of warehouse space at 33 Davis Road, Wetherill Park, said Peter Blade, CBRE, director, industrial & logistics services.

Mr Blade said the company already leased space directly opposite and required an additional warehouse to service a new logistics contract.

"There is real pent up demand from logistics providers because there has been very little industrial development in Sydney over the past two years," he said.

"This will be the first major speculative development undertaken in Sydney in over two years," he said.

A spate of additional logistics deals are expected in coming months, with groups such as Toll, DHL and Linfox actively seeking space in the Western Sydney market.
