NEW HOME FOR AVIATION SHOW

Expo and trade event relocates
AUSTRALIA’S largest annual general aviation trade show and careers exposition will relocate to Bankstown Airport.
The airport will become the new home of Aviatex, Aviation Exposition & Careers Showcase, when it holds a three-day event in November this year.

The event, a partnership between Bright Events Pty Ltd and Sydney Metro Airports Corporation, was previously held in conjunction with the Wings Over Illawarra Airshow in Wollongong.

“I am pleased to welcome Aviatex to Bankstown in 2018 especially as we need to attract the next generation of pilots, engineers and other aviation professional to meet the needs of both the imminent Western Sydney Airport and the wider Australian aviation industry,” said Lee de Winton, CEO, of Sydney Metro Airports,

“Bankstown is home to not only over 15 flying schools and an ecosystem of supporting businesses but also boasts the majority of the NSW air emergency services which provide essential support to millions in Sydney and wider NSW.”

The 313-hectare airport, part of the broader Bankstown Airport/Milperra Specialised Centre, services the needs of metropolitan Sydney and NSW in freight, charter and flight training, generating employment for 3000 people, directly and indirectly.

Airservices Australia is preparing a heritage management plan for the airport’s air traffic control tower which it notes is of significance to Australia for demonstrating the principal characteristics of control towers of the post-World War II era.
