At its pinnacle, the Aspire Tower will reach a maximum height of 336 metres and will feature the tallest publicly-accessible viewing platform and experience centre in the Southern Hemisphere.
Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr John Chedid said the Aspire Tower is one of the first developments of Parramatta City Council’s Parramatta Square, a landmark development precinct set across three-hectares of Council-owned space and real estate in the heart of the Parramatta CBD.
“The Aspire Tower is about providing Sydney’s premier regional city with an iconic, innovative development that people will instantly recognise. Sydney City has the Opera House, Parramatta will have Aspire,” Cr Chedid said.
“The development includes 700 apartments, retail space in the lower levels and a 150-room hotel, which will bring urban vitality to that part of Church Street Mall. Further, the viewing platform is set to give people some of the most spectacular views over Sydney.”
The Aspire Tower development will incorporate a vibrant public domain, bars and retail as well as a spectacular public function space.
“By lodging the DA for this development and getting it approved, Council is making the Aspire Tower more attractive to developers by taking away some of the risk in the process,” Cr Chedid said.
He added that Aspire complements the NSW Government’s vision for Sydney, outlined in its draft Sydney Metropolitan Strategy.
“NSW is going to need at least another 500,000 homes and 600,000 jobs over the next 20 years. At 88-storeys, the Aspire Tower will help Sydney meet those targets,” Cr Chedid said.
Aspire Tower is the result of a design excellence competition held by the Parramatta City Council and will establish a benchmark for innovative passive environmental design in Australian high-rise developments. It is designed to act as a catalyst project for Parramatta Square.
