The pair was granted their awards at a special judging ceremony at Blacktown City Council on Thursday, April 11.
Blacktown City Mayor, Councillor Len Robinson congratulated the pair after speeches from all six finalists vying for the opportunity to represent young people in the State’s most populated local government area.
“Stephanie Mulholland from St Andrews College and Abhishek Arora from Macquarie University showed themselves through the selection process to be young adults with maturity and intelligence and performed extremely well on the night. I believe they will be outstanding leaders of the young people in our City," Mayor Robinson said.
The selection process involved an interview, a written quiz, and a five minute speech on this year’s theme: “Looking at the past and towards the future, how do you see the Sister City movement benefiting the residents of Blacktown City Council and our sister Cities?”.
Stephanie and Abhishek will attend a number of civic functions, present speeches at Citizenship Ceremonies and represent the youth of Blacktown at the Young Australian Sister Cities Conference in late September.
