Penrith Council announces live streaming of local music

THE show will go on for talented local bands and performers with Penrith Council announcing a new series of livestreamed music gigs.

The Thursday Night Live – Lockdown Series is a new weekly one-hour, live music event giving homegrown performers the opportunity to share their music with an online audience.

Each week one singer, band or musician will play a live set from their home or a studio with their performances livestreamed on Penrith Council’s Facebook page from 7.30pm.

Penrith Mayor Ross Fowler OAM said artists, musicians and performers are an important part of our city and Council will do whatever they can to support them during this time.

“There are many industries suffering at the moment, but we know that the music industry has been one of the hardest hit, and we’re very happy to be providing local performers with a platform to share their music,” Cr Fowler said.

“I encourage everyone to jump online each Thursday night and show your support for our local performers and if you can, go one-step further by downloading their music if it’s available. We all must do what we can to support them now and into the future.”

The Thursday Night Live – Lockdown Series kicks off on Thursday, April 9 at 7.30pm with local duo cover band Covered in Clichés performing a one-hour set classic hits from Fleetwood Mac, Beatles and The Eagles to Ed Sheeran, George Ezra and Sam Sparrow.
