THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES

Fairmont celebrates 30 years of charm
FAIRMONT Resort in the stunning Blue Mountains is celebrating three decades of warm hospitality and special memories.

With awe-inspiring panoramic views of the Jamison Valley, the resort has been the ideal romantic getaway, family escape or business retreat for people looking to reconnect, rejuvenate and revitalise.

Acclaimed for offering superior hotel accommodation, Fairmont Resort is located in Leura, one of the most charming upper-mountains villages in Australia and just an hour and half outside of Sydney.

The 4.5 star property features 222 stylish accommodation rooms and suites, five modern restaurants, a variety of leisure facilities and 9.5 hectares of bushland, walk ways and gardens.

And in celebration of its 30th anniversary, Fairmont Resort is launching its newest offering, Ubika Day Spa.

Partnering with iKOU, a Blue Mountains based organic spa brand whose name aptly means “to rest, to relax, to restore”, the spa offers a selection of therapies for both men and women.

Retreating to nature

iKOU founder, Naomi Whitfeld, has created a bespoke menu for the spa that captures the essence of retreating into nature – like the signature ‘White Flannel Flower Sanctuary’ treatment that commences with a coconut and jasmine body polish followed by a white flannel flower hydrating cocoon and finishing with a radiance facial and massage-style body souffle.

“We are so excited to have iKOU Spa treatments being offered in our local Leura area, and in such a nurturing space as Ubika Spa,” she said.

“When Ubika Spa at Fairmont Resort approached us with their concept, and we saw their amazing space, with beautifully appointed rooms that connect with the natural environment at a level never offered in the mountains before, I was inspired to begin creating immediately. Ubika is bringing a special sanctuary to the mountains that is worth travelling for.”

The Fairmont Resort opened to much fanfare on August 13, 1988 as an upscale Alpine-style resort and conference destination. After several years of neglect, Jerry Schwartz, Australia’s largest private owner of hotels in the tourism industry, purchased the property in 2010 and restored the local landmark to its former glory.

His commitment to the local area has seen the resort collaborate with local producers and discovery tours to deliver a memorable stay for its guests like offering family packages that include entry to the neighbouring attraction Scenic World or partnering with Fantastic Aussie Tours to offer conference transfers or featuring its stunning gardens in the Leura Gardens Festival.

European styling

Fairmont Resort became an Accor MGallery property and in January 2016 MGallery aligned with the Sofitel brand to become MGallery by Sofitel, transforming the Fairmont

Resort into a charming destination that provides guests with the feel of a boutique hotel experience.

Today, the Fairmont Resort building reflects European styling from the guest rooms to the indoor pool, library, billiards room, kids’ zone, outdoor areas, dining outlets and extensive conference facilities. Over recent years, each area of the hotel has been renovated to ensure it consistently aligns with the upscale branding standards of the global MGallery collection.

One such renovation project was inspired by the thrill of hosting the Dalai Lama at the resort in 2015 which sparked the construction of 12 new rooms and suites, including the spacious Grand Luxury Suite, billed as the pinnacle of Blue Mountains luxury.

In celebration of the Fairmont Resort’s 30 year milestone occasion, Ubika Day Spa will open to the public on August 13 with a special opening offer. Book any single treatment to receive a complimentary Vichy treatment or book a couple’s treatment and receive a complimentary upgrade to the deluxe couples room with your own private spa bath.
