SANTA PAWS HEADS WEST

Panthers goes to the dogs for a day
THE Sydney Santa Spectacular will bring all the wonder of Lapland to Sydney’s four-legged friends, when a dog friendly Santa Paws day is staged at the Penrith Panthers based event on Saturday November 30.
Sydney Santa Spectacular is Australia’s biggest Christmas festival, and has been running in Sydney’s west for five years. This will be the first year that dogs are invited to join Santa in celebrating the ,magic of Christmas with their families.

“We’re a month long family friendly event, and for so many people their fur babies are either their entire family, or at least as important to them as other family members,” said Jade Evans, Sydney Santa Spectacular Founder and Director, who organises the event alongside her husband Josh, six children and a team of tight-knit family and friends.
“So this year we wanted to recognise that, and have a big of fun by allowing all the doggo’s to join their owners for a Santa photo and fun at the event.”

“We have moved the event to Penrith Panthers for the first time this year, which has allowed us to extent the event dates from November 23 until December 27, and to also have a special dog day,” added Jade.

The dog friendly day will operate with three session times – 9am – 12pm, 1pm – 4pm and 5pm – 8pm.

Dogs can join their owners on Australia’s only double decker carousel – a vintage beauty of 10,000 moving pieces, as well as in Santa’s Enchanted Forest with live snow falling to catch on their tongues and enjoy under paw, as well as having a photo taken with Santa, wandering through the elves grotto and other parts of the Christmas festival.

All owners can also enjoy unlimited show-ride favourites including the Cha, Ferris wheel, Wave Swinger, Red Baron Flyer, Circus Train, Teacups, Sea Circus Fun House and Australia’s biggest inflatable world as well as a toboggan slide, live stage entertainment, reindeer ride-on training stables, interactive costume characters, fairy reading-times, live carolling, face-painting, live Snow Queen stage show, special Santa meet-and-greets and one of Australia’s largest portable ice skating rinks, imported direct from Italy for a snowy sampling of European winter in Sydney’s scorching summer heat.
With a strong emphasis on value-for-money for families, event organisers have created a flat-priced golden entry ticket, which entitles all festivalgoers to unlimited rides, activities, entertainment and free parking over a three-hour session.

“We have six kids, so we know how expensive it can be to take a big family to a special event – especially at a pricey time like Christmas.   We don’t want anyone to miss out, so work hard to ensure the ticketing remains great value and not too expensive,” said Jade Evans.

“All rides and parking are included in our tickets – which is awesome value – and while we do sell food and drinks at the event, families can also opt to bring food, dog snacks and drinks with them to make it even more affordable,” she said.

“The spirit of giving is also an integral part of the Sydney Santa Spectacular, adds Evans, noting that her favourite event element is a towering charity Christmas tree, under which attendees are usually encouraged to place gifts for sick and needy kids.

For the special Santa Paws day on November 30 attendees will be encouraged to bring dog food and treats, dog toys and donations that Bar’s March – which promotes good times for a good cause, raising money by ‘having a drink to save a dog’ each year with some of the nation’s favourite bars – can work with the SSS team to pass onto the NSW Animal Welfare League.

Over the past four years, the Sydney Santa Spectacular team has hand-delivered more than 15,000 presents from under the giving tree to the Sydney Children’s Hospital and Westmead Children’s Hospital, this year they’re hoping they will have a big swag of doggy gifts to pass on to the Animal Welfare League of NSW.

Since its founding in 2014 the Sydney Santa Spectacular has welcomed more than 400,000 people through its doors, with Christmas-lovers of all ages flocking from across Australia and abroad for a North Pole experience like no other.
