Holroyd proud of its DA record

A REPORT from the NSW Department of Planning and Infrastructures on Development Application (DA) determination times shows that Holroyd City Council is among the leading Western Sydney Councils.

Holroyd City Mayor, Ross Grove said Holroyd outperforms Parramatta, Blacktown and Fairfield in three of five development categories and is the best Council in the area for ‘mum and dad’ home renovators with projects valued at less than $100k.

“We are attracting larger investors to our LGA with faster turnarounds for development categories over $1m as evident by the Stockland, Visy, Wenty Leagues, Greystanes Shopping Centre and Neil Street developments,” said Clr Grove. “Essentially, our can do culture is attracting new proposals and new investments in to Holroyd because as I have said before, smart money will always make its way to those destinations where doing business is as simple and easy as possible."

“Since the September 2012 election, DAs in the system for more than 100 days have reached a record low, and we are continuing the work of previous Council in keeping downward pressure on DA turnaround times.

“We have seen the strongest growth in complying development, moving smaller jobs out of the Council paper machine and onto the worksite.   “I welcome the Minister’s comments regarding turnaround times and the need for further planning reform. Council are leading advocates for reductions in red tape and recently gave in-principle support to expanded exempt and complying development to continue to get smaller and medium sized projects out of the planning system and onto as soon as possible.”
