Reborn venue a leap of faith for Nadia’s team

SOCIAL Dining is more than just a delicious meal – it’s an experience.

That is how owner Nadia Turov sums up her newly renovated restaurant at Wetherill Park in Western Sydney.

“It’s the place to go if you want to sit at the bar and grab a drink or a cocktail and take in the live music on a Friday night or have a tasty meal in the restaurant or host an event in one of our function rooms,” she said.

Nadia ditched her career in customer service and took a leap of faith when the former JD Bar and Grill site became available in October last year.

With the help of her construction worker husband, the pair recently refurbished the premises and reopened the doors to the delight of customers.

“The place certainly has a very modern, sleek look about it now and is more family friendly and very relaxed,” Nadia said.

“This really fell into our laps at just the right time. Our kids are a little older now and I found I needed my own little project so we thought ‘let’s give this a go’.”

And she hasn’t looked back.

Nadia said Social Dining’s emphasis on personalised customer service is what keeps diners coming back.

“Our food is delicious and consistent – if you enjoy a great meal one night, you’re guaranteed to get that same great meal the next,” she said.

“But eating out is more than just the food. You want to be made to feel comfortable and our staff strive to make our customers feel welcome from the moment they walk in.

“Too many places have lost that personal touch and are about getting people in and then getting them out. For us, it’s not about that. Our staff take the time to talk to you and strike up a connection so you want to stay and enjoy your night and come back again.”

The restaurant’s food is created by chef Roberto who skilfully plates traditional Italian dishes but with a modern Australian flair.

The premise of the signature dish – lamb shoulder for two – is borrowed from the restaurant’s name “Social” or sharing and doing things together, Nadia explained.

The menu – which features tasty offerings like wood fired pizzas and fresh pasta - changes to take advantage of the flavours of the season based on what produce is freshly available.

“Everything is made in-house, including the sauces which are made from scratch,” Nadia said.

Running Social Dining seven days a week has been made easier with the help of manager Francesco Procopio, formerly of Lily’s Function Centre, Nadia said.

“Francesco is well known and well-loved in the Italian community. He is himself a marvellous chef and has been in the industry for 20 years.”

The recent revamp has also made Social Dining an ideal place to host an event – the upstairs rooms can accommodate small and intimate functions for 50 people or up to 250 in the larger function room or private business meetings in the corporate room.

Social Dining is at 20/1345 The Horsley Drive, Wetherill Park and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day and a take away menu is now available.
