Iconic property families merge for new Parramatta office

RAY White Commercial NSW is set to take the commercial real estate market in Western Sydney by storm with the recent opening of a new office in Parramatta.

Managing director and partner, Jeff Moxham, said the decision to open in George Street was key to the agency’s growing success.

“Parramatta is the geographical centre of Sydney and is becoming such a powerhouse of economic growth,” Mr Moxham said.

“It’s the capital of Western Sydney really and has some very exciting years ahead of it in terms of the development that is coming up.”

Parramatta is the second of several planned new offices for Ray White Commercial NSW which already has a base in the Sydney CBD.  It will open an office in the Sutherland Shire by February next year followed by North Sydney soon after.

And it comes off the back of a successful two years for the business which has sold $600 million worth of property in that time.

“With the success of the NSW commercial business in the past 24 months, the timing was perfect,” Ray White director, Dan White, said of the new office.

Mr Moxham joined forces with the Ray White team more than two years ago and said the partnership was forged on their respective ethics including family values. Dan White is the

fourth generation of his family to carry on the real estate legacy that was started 114 years ago while Jeff is the third generation of the Moxham family in the same industry.

The agency’s presence in Parramatta is a coming home of sorts for Mr Moxham whose great, great uncle, Thomas Moxham, was mayor in 1897 and Moxham Park, North

Parramatta’s Moxham Street and Moxham Road in Northmead are all named after the iconic family.

“It is difficult for me to put into words how exciting it is for me to fly the family flag and to have the strength of the White family behind me,” Mr Moxham said.

Family is important to Mr Moxham and it is what drew him to Ray White when he left a major corporate real estate agency after “eight wonderful years”.

“We share the same view that there is a real space for family values and a personal approach in the corporate environment,” he said.

“As a business we’re hugely passionate about the value of long term relationships and that really is what our business is based on.

“And we’re always striving to take the business and our services to the next level.”

Real estate is in the blood of both Mr Moxham and Mr White. Mr Moxham’s grandfather, Cyril Moxham, started Moxham Real Estate in the 1950s and his father John Moxham was integral to the business.

Ray White Group, which was this year named one of the top 50 family businesses in the world by Ernst & Young, started out with one office in rural Queensland and now boasts more than 1000 offices across 11 countries.

Asked what his forebear Thomas Moxham would think of the move to Parramatta, Mr Moxham said: “I think he would proud and humbled by it - and be just as excited as I am.”

Ray White Commercial NSW is at Level 6, 80 George Street, Parramatta.
