SUPPORT FOR CITY BEACH

Asset activation is good, says KPMG

PARRAMATTA Council’s draft plans for the CBD and river foreshore has been welcomed by an executive of the city’s largest corporations, KPMG.

KPMG office manager private enterprise Greater Western Sydney, David Pring said any moves to make Parramatta more attractive to businesses, workers and residents had to be good.

“Activating the assets Parramatta has, such as the river, is a good move,” Mr Pring said.

“The idea of a beach, where people could relax on deck chairs, would work well. You do see this in other cities, in Germany and France for example.

“With the inclusion of cafes and restaurants along the river, it would mean you would have the office crowd during the day and families coming in later in the day, and night.”

Mr Pring said that he had noticed more people who work in Parramatta staying after work to enjoy the restaurants and entertainment in the evening.

“I have noticed a change from when I first started work here in the late 1990s to now how Parramatta has become a more vibrant city, with people wanting to enjoy the city after work.”
