RIVERSIDE DIGITAL BY POPULAR DEMAND

Todd McKenney shares his songbook
RIVERSIDE Theatres’ star-studded live digital concerts are back by popular demand following a successful first series, with legendary performers Todd McKenney and Jay Laga’aia taking the Parramatta stage.

The second Riverside Theatres Digital series kicks off on Sunday, July 26 with An Evening with Todd McKenney. The original Boy from Oz will sing songs that shaped and inspired his iconic 40-year career, including from his roles in Cats, West Side Story, The Rocky Horror Show, and Shrek.

On Sunday August 9, much-loved children’s entertainer and Play School presenter Jay Laga’aia will delight families with his afternoon show Come Dance and Sing with Jay Laga’aia and Friends.

“We were blown away by the huge support for Riverside Theatres’ inaugural digital concert series, as well as the thousands of new viewers it attracted. We’re thrilled to once again live-stream world-class performances into homes across Australia,” City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Bob Dwyer said.

“The second Riverside Theatres Digital series will give audiences another opportunity to stay connected and entertained while the doors are closed due to COVID-19, as well as support our creative community.”

Riverside Theatres Digital shows will be live-streamed via YouTube and tickets are ‘Choose What You Pay’. More concerts will be announced over the coming weeks.

“Join me as we welcome some of our most loved performers back to the Riverside stage. Streaming means you can dance and sing along wherever you are!” Riverside Theatres Director Robert Love said.

Four-week series

Thousands of tickets were sold for the first four-week series, which launched on Sunday 31 May with a musical theatre concert directed by Helpmann Award-winner Luke Joslin with stars Penny McNamee, Michael Cormick, Rachael Beck, Robert McDougall and Daniel Belle.

Other concerts in the series starred The Wharf Revue’s Jonathan Biggins and Phil Scott, contemporary music artist Ngaiire, and Australia’s queen of children’s entertainment, Justine Clarke.

Riverside Theatres is Western Sydney’s premier performing arts venue, attracting more than 180,000 patrons to up to 1,000 performances and events every year. It is a successful cultural and community asset of City of Parramatta Council.

The iconic theatre temporarily closed its doors to the public on Monday, March 23 due to COVID-19, in line with federal and state government requirements.

Riverside Theatres looks forward to welcoming the public back to its live shows once a reopening date has been determined. Customers can reach the Box Office by calling 8839 3399 or emailing BoxOffice_Riverside@cityofparramatta.nsw.gov.au.
