Cult Classics program:

August 5, 9pm – The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)
Directed by: Jim Sharman
Synopsis: Sweethearts Brad (Barry Bostwick) and Janet (Susan Sarandon) find themselves stuck with a flat tyre during a storm and soon discover the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Curry), a transvestite scientist. As their innocence is lost, Brad and Janet meet a houseful of wild characters including a rocking biker (Meat Loaf) and a creepy butler (Richard O’Brien). Through elaborate dances and rock songs, Frank-N-Furter unveils his latest creation: a muscular man named ‘Rocky’.

August 19, 9pm – The Blues Brothers (1980)
Directed by: John Landis
Synopsis:  After his release from prison, Jake (John Belushi) reunites with his brother, Elwood (Dan Aykroyd) — collectively known as the ‘Blues Brothers’. Jake’s first task is to save the orphanage the brothers grew up in from closing, by raising $5,000 to pay back taxes. The two are convinced they can earn the money by getting their old band back together. However, after playing several gigs and making a few enemies, including the police, the brothers face daunting odds to deliver the money on time.

September 2, 9pm – Little Shop of Horrors (1986)
Directed by: Frank Oz
Synopsis: Meek flower shop assistant Seymour (Rick Moranis) pines for co-worker Audrey (Ellen Greene). During a total eclipse, he discovers an unusual plant he names Audrey II, which feeds only on human flesh and blood. The growing plant attracts a great deal of business for the previously struggling store. After Seymour feeds Audrey’s boyfriend, Orin (Steve Martin), to the plant after Orin’s accidental death, he must come up with more bodies for the increasingly bloodthirsty plant.

September 16, 9pm – This is Spinal Tap (1984)
Directed by: Rob Reiner
Synopsis: This Is Spinal Tap shines a light on the self-contained universe of a metal band struggling to get back on the charts. It includes everything from its complicated history of ups and downs, gold albums, name changes and undersold concert dates; as well as the full host of requisite groupies, promoters, hangers-on and historians, sessions, release events and those special behind-the-scenes moments that keep it all real.
