Graduates tackle skills shortage

ASTUTE Training Pty Ltd (Astute) has congratulated 25 recent graduate students.

The students graduated from their Certificate IV Community Services and Certificate III Aged Care courses at a special ceremony in Parramatta recently.

Astute is one of the largest privately-owned registered training organisations in Western Sydney and has been working in partnership with youth services provider Evolve Housing for Youth (EHY), to deliver the courses, aimed at breaking the cycle of unemployment in Western Sydney.

Astute’s CEO, Di Groves, said the fee-free scholarships for EHY clients and other members of the local community are being funded under the NSW Government’s Smart and Skilled program, providing students with a mix of employability and foundation skills.

“We congratulate all of our students who have successfully completed the courses,” Ms Groves said today.

“Astute’s pre-vocational courses and programs are strongly focused on areas of skills shortages across the Western Sydney region, giving students the opportunity to choose apprenticeships, traineeships, or go on to completing a full certificate qualification in preparation for entering or re-entering the workforce with new business, leadership and lifestyle skills.”

State Member for Parramatta, Dr Geoff Lee, was special guest at the graduation ceremony, held on Wednesday, May 18, at Evolve Housing, Henry Dodd House, in Argyle Street, Parramatta.

“We would like to thank Dr Lee for his interest and support of Astute’s training courses being delivered under the NSW Government’s Smart and Skilled program, helping people in Western Sydney get the skills they need to find employment,” Ms Groves added.
