BIG INTEREST FROM BUSINESS

Reference groups to support Stage !
BUSINESS, community members and stakeholder groups have been invited to submit an Expression of Interest to join Parramatta Light Rail‘s Business Reference Groups.

Parramatta Light Rail Business Reference Groups are being established to provide advice on initiatives that will support businesses along the Stage 1 alignment (Eat Street and Parramatta CBD, as well as surrounding commercial businesses at Westmead, North Parramatta, Camellia, Rydalmere, Dundas, Telopea and Carlingford) during construction and through to operation.

The Business Reference Groups will be made up of representation from the community, key stakeholders and businesses along the Stage 1 alignment, City of Parramatta Council and the Parramatta Chamber of Commerce.

Details around membership, frequency and the number of Business Reference Groups will be finalised in the coming weeks.

Residents have their say on Stage 2

The NSW Government will focus on Waratah Street, Melrose Park, as part of the preferred Parramatta Light Rail Stage 2 route after hearing from local residents.

Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance said the NSW Government has listened to feedback and will now investigate an alternate route along Waratah Street in Melrose Park.

In October 2017, the NSW Government announced the preferred route for Parramatta Light Rail Stage 2, which will connect the Parramatta CBD to Ermington, Melrose Park, Wentworth Point and Sydney Olympic Park along a nine-kilometre route.

Detailed planning for Stage 2 of Parramatta Light Rail is ongoing and the Final Business Case is expected to be complete in late 2018.

Happy birthday, Parramatta Light Rail Advisory Group!

For 12 months, the Parramatta Light Rail Advisory Group has been meeting to provide advice, local knowledge and expertise that reflects the needs of stakeholders, the community and local businesses.

The advisory group is a consultative committee that provides an opportunity for members to learn more about Parramatta Light Rail, raise emerging issues and provide information back to their communities.

The meeting is attended by representatives from City of Parramatta Council, the Parramatta Chamber of Commerce, Sydney Business Chamber, Western Sydney University, Tourism and Transport Forum Australia and several State Government entities including the Department of Industry, the Land and Housing Corporation and Venues NSW.

Helping care for those in need

Shaving cream, deodorant and socks were just some of the goods donated by the Parramatta Light Rail team to help men in crisis, as part of the Business Helping Hands initiative run by the Parramatta Chamber of Commerce.

In partnership with The Salvation Army, the Chamber aims to supply at least 100 care packs every four months to those less fortunate in the local community.

Staff from the Parramatta Light Rail project also donated soap, toothpaste and coffee.

The Chamber is calling on local businesses to lend their support and donate items for the next care package in time for Christmas.
